Also this week, students really enjoyed making puppets , creating a setting, and performing a legend for their peers.Ìý Students had the choice of creating their own or retelling one of the Native PNW myths we’ve read so far this year.

I kept the field trip shirts and will wash them for all students and then keep them here at school. The reason behind keeping them at school –Ìý I wouldn’t want a student to forget to wear theirs on a field trip day and feel left out not wearing one.

Next week we have conferences. I shared the schedule a couple days ago with you through an email.Ìý Please contact me with any q’s or concerns.Ìý I look forward to it!

Periodically, I’ll send book suggestions for home .Ìý Books that we’ve read in class that students and I particularly enjoyed.Ìý Many are higher level books that require parents to read the book to children or children use the pictures to retell the story from memory.

Stickeen: John Muir and the Brave Little Dog

Another book that had us talking….The True Story of the Three Little Pigs.Ìý In this book we got to hear the wolfs perspective on the narrative of the famous story book The Three Little Pigs!Ìý We read various versions of The 3 Little Pigs this week to compare and contrast them.Ìý Maybe he really was just looking to borrow sugar and really isn’t the big bad guy that everyone made him out to be?Ìý

Bonney Butte Hawk Migration FestivalÌýat theÌýMt Hood Cultural Center & Museum, Saturday, September 22 from 10 am – 4 pm.Ìý This is a free, family-friendly event with educational programs and activities all about raptors!

Hello!Ìý Some reminders for next week.

We are tie dying shirts on Tuesday.Ìý Please don’t wear anything fancy.Ìý It’s very likely that we’ll get messy.Ìý Save your hip outfit for the following day because… Picture Day is on 9/19/18.Ìý Ìý Please have student bring their form with them to school that day unless you’ve placed the order online.

Looking into October. Our first field trip of the year is to see Elephant and Piggie on Oct. 4th.Ìý Field trip slips went home the other day.Ìý Later in October, we have conferences.Ìý It looks like everyone has signed up!Ìý Ìý Thank you!

Rest up, read books, and go play outdoors for the weekend.Ìý I’ll see you Monday.Ìý Have fun out there!

Week 1 – WE DID IT!ÌýÌý ÌýWe made new friends, got very messy with the paints, built free standing structures, read some great books, and learned our daily routines.Ìý ÌýI’d like to thank the 1st grade returning students for the mentorship they provided to our new friends this week. I’d also like to compliment our new incoming students for their bravery.Ìý Jumping into the unknown can be intimidating.
