Initial test results for lead in water in a sink in the high school gym building came back at or above the action level of 15ppb.  Students and the general public did not have access to this sink, a warning sign was posted on it, and it has now been repaired. This sink was re-tested and is now below the action level.

The 91¿´Æ¬Íø continues to monitor and test for lead in drinking water.  This month a third round of samples were submitted to PIXIS Labs, with the number of samples increased to 64.  The results inform us that all samples were below the level requiring action.

Previous test results can be found by typing Lead in Drinking Water in the search bar of this website, and are available in the District Office.  The District takes this issue very seriously and will continue to monitor lead levels and share results as they become available.

The 91¿´Æ¬Íø has adopted the Oregon Health Authority’s Recommendations to Schools as its plan to test for lead in drinking water .  Community members can access a copy of the recommendations by clicking here.  Hardcopy is available in the 91¿´Æ¬Íø Office.

The school district’s water testing has been on going.  Previous test results have been posted on this site and can be found by typing Lead in Drinking Water in the search feature located in the upper right corner of the site.

The District opted to conduct a more extensive second round of water testing and included evaluating copper levels as well as re-testing for lead levels.  The sample base was also expanded from 10 samples to 38 samples. The District is sharing the results of those tests by clicking here for Part 1 and here for Part 2, via email, and posted in the District Office.

Although copper levels are not required to be tested the District opted to test for copper.  All results from the copper testing were within accepted limits.

Five of the tests for lead came back above accepted limits.  Four are from sinks, one from a fountain:

1. HS Gym Concession Sink
2. Science Lab Sink
3. Girls Coaches Sink
4. Vista House Sink (room in basement)
5. Gym Hall drinking fountain

While none of the elevated levels were extreme in nature the District has removed all cause for worry by disabling all five fixtures. The fixtures will either be permanently removed or replaced and retested.

The District takes this very seriously and will continue to monitor lead and copper levels and share results as they become available.

Additionally, the District will begin monitoring radon levels across campus this winter.

Water samples were submitted on 6/9/2016 to Waterlab Corp. for lead testing.  The results inform us that that the samples were below the level requiring action.  The highest level was reported in the Science Lab sink.  While it is still under the action level, and it is not from a drinking fountain, as a precautionary measure signs will be posted in the lab stating that the water is not potable.
